Gaming information:

Describe your average gaming week to give us an idea about your playtimes, with approximate hours for each day, in GMT time zone.

I would say it's about 5 hours a day, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I'm from Croatia, so my average playtime would be from 5 to 10pm GMT+1.

Our most active playtimes are between 7 and 10 PM GMT, do these suit you?

I can't promise you I will be on every day at this hour, due to real life, but if there is a set time, I'll try to be on.

Do you consider yourself as a casual, semi-hardcore or hardcore gamer? What is your ingame age for instance (type /age in game)?

If there is to choose, I would call myself semi-hardcore towards GW2. There was a time I was hardcore gamer (my golden days in counter strike: source).

/age 684 hours over the past 5 months

Which MMOG's have you played and how did you fare in them?

I've played gw1 for 5 years and at that time I was active pvp player. My best place was around r20 in gvg.

I've played other mmos too, but it was very casual (Aion, DAoC, Lineage 2, Shaiya, just to name few). You can also add League of Legends here.

From 2003 till 2012 I was playing counter strike: source. At the beggining I was just casual gamer but then I started to enjoy competition in that game.

That was the game, together with gw1, that made me realise I am a teamplayer. I like putting hours and hours in learning everything about games I am playing, best tactics that are around, how to counter them and also, the best thing, creating one.

In counter strike: source I got into one of the best of teams in my country. I have big respect there as a skilled player and I was called to play for my country. I never did, I had other plans at that time. With my team I won few UNGL cups and got high places in online tournaments.

Due to being in Croatia, I was never in any LAN, a thing that is still my dream.

Describe your character in GW2 (name, race, profession, level, crafting, style (damage, support, control)).

I got 4 characters in gw2.

Lev 80 warrior, thief, guardian and elementalist.
Interesting to add is, I didn't start any of this classes (except warrior) until I read few guides about them, found builds that were having sense for me, and if I liked it, I started that class.
Why did I do it? Well, if you are putting lot of hours in something, you should have something out of it.

Human warrior: axe/mace + mace/mace Strife's build. It's mainly a PvE build, it wouldn't last in www. Godlike build for PvE, dungeons and fractals.

Human Guardian: gs + sword/shield. I like this combination for PvE, it's really great. It's AH shout build, with Lyssa runes and combination of berserker/knight armor.
I never played Guardian in www, I'm enjoying my other classes so much that I didn't have time to try him.

Human Thief: I'm having a blast with him in www! I'm probably not like the most thiefs there, I'm running dagger/pistol weapon combination and I found it the best for my playstyle. It's not 1 button smashing, it's hard build to play but very rewarding. It's also the best build to troll enemies, nothing is best then playing 1vs7 and still giving them hard time to kill you and to defend themselves.
I like him that much, that I am starting to call him my main.

Human Elementalist: d/d ele, what else to add? Very fun to play, lot of supports, survivability and damage.
With quick hands, you can do so much things with him, you just have to have good improvisation and creative skills.

Describe what you enjoy doing the most in GW2 and why?

Knowing the game! Every skill, every build, their pros and cons.
Interesting thing is, I was never a PvE player, but I got 96% of map completition on my warrior. I like PvE in this game!
Now, with coming changes to www, I'm giving it a shot, and I like it's concept. Only thing that is lacking is guild that will help me and teach me, and be active in www.

What previous experience do you have in a Guild environment?

Well, I was in guild environment from 2003 till today. I was never a leader, but I was co-leader few times.
I know how it is important to make good connections with guildmates, cuz it leads to having great time and with it, putting more effort in guild.

What do you expect of a Guild?

To be active. To teach new players. To talk about and to make new tactics. To share knowledge.
To be semi-hardcore, if not even hardcore.
I'm expecting you to be serious guild, one that knows what they want and which will strive to be the best they can.

How did you hear about Semper Dius?

I didn't hear about you, I played next to you in www. I liked what I've seen, so I decided to give it a shot and to create application.

Are you currently in, or applying to, another GW2 guild?

I'm currently in Croatian Maniacs guild. Yes, it's a big guild. Problem is, they are not active nor organised in www or in pvp. They are PvE guild.

How active do you use forums & TS3?

Everyday if needed. They are helping tools which shouldn't be ignored.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I can't wait for new patch! I'm hoping it will bring lot of things for www and make it more interesting and rewarding!

If there is anything that you would like to ask me, just do it

See you on a battlefield!

ingame: Arya Archangel (my thief).

Hello Mikali,

What Guild were you in in GW1?
What profession and role did you play in your Guild?
Any nice results in monthly tournaments?

Good luck with the application.

Time for plan B [RUN] and many others in those 5 years of playing.
Heh, I was amateur at that time, also very young. My parents were kinda strict so I couldn't use voice communication properly (I think it was cuz I didn't know English very well, so I got them on nerves hmm...) so I didn't play in core team in it's golden days.
My position was changing through years and guilds I was in, from Ranger, Ele (let's say midline), to flagger (once I got older, got PC in my room and started speak on TS) and finally backline, my strongest position (prot monk).

What my strong side was in that guild, even tho I wasn't in core team (but got my chances and I played lot of gvgs just not in tournaments if others were around), was my ability to make builds, strats and counter tactics.

I was kinda sad when I realised there will be no monks in gw2, interrupts, hexes...but well...games are changing

I would like to play next you tonight in www, if you will be on? That way you can know my abilities better and it will help you deicide if I fit in your guild or not.

Hello Mikali,

Welcome to the forums.

You say p/d is harder to play than a d/d thief. why do you think so? I personally think p/d is easyer to play because you have so many escapes, stealths and life steals. The d/d is more squishie (trait wise as well) and requires more careful positioning. I also think d/d is more effective but that is up for debate of course. That said, the playstyle that you enjoy is always the best option!

Also, one last question. What would happen if you don't like WvW?

Good luck with your application! You seem like a solid and experienced player.

I call it harder because my playstyle with it. I will explain.
D/D is great build! It has big dmg and evade skill on a button if needed. CnD is great skill that "force" you to hit your target in order to get in steath. But that's all for me it got.
Kinda selfish build, but great for that playstyle!

My playstyle is more demanding.

For CnD you need 6 initiative to get in stealth and backstab your target (or run away)
For D/P you need 9 (black powder+heartseeker), regarding that, it's harder to spend 9 then 6 for "same purpose" - stealthing and backstabing.

But, with right build, you can use D/P and it's combo (bp+hs) to get in stealth any time you want, as much as you want.
That weapon setup gives you AoE blind with combo field smoke:
- with leap you can stealth (and not only me, whoever use it)
- with blast you get AoE stealth (Sometimes I change to shortbow for blast finisher)
- with projectile and whirl blindness

Just with this skill D/P is more team based build and you can use different things for different purpose.
I can put bs and use dagger storm to blind enemies around if needed.

3rd skill (shadow shot) gives you another shadowstep and it also blinds!

4th skill is AMAZING. I played gw1 and I was addicted to interrupts, and this skill is that, an interrupt.
There is a great feeling when you interrupt enemy who is about to finish of your teammater. It's also a projectile.

Putting this all in one place, D/P is more demanding to play then D/D or any other set I tried, for pure purpose of different things you can do with it.

I've just noticed, you were talking about p/d set, which I didn't mention at all. Was that maybe a typo?

Hehe, well, I was blind there too, saw it's about p/d after I've already finished my post about d/p

I didn't answer your other question.

I've started to play www about 2 weeks ago. At first if was confusing, but I quickly adapted and found out what was going on. I'm still in process of learning.
Thing that made me want play www was that 1 night when I joined commander and group and when I saw those portal uses with teleporting golems around! That kind of tactic feels good to me and from that moment www was different thing for me. Thing that I like.

Also, I'm not 100% sure if I'm right, but I think I was with Kaligula in party at one moment during this month.
I know that I added him in my friend list and that I asked him some question regarding www and he offered me answers if I have any questions in future.

Nothing fancy, after [RUN] I played in more casual guilds that were around r200, my memory is kinda lacking from that time so I can't tell you more details if I am not sure about them.

Guilds like [KISS], which were AB orianted. At that time I was more interested in cs:s then gw1.

[rawr] was unbeateable at that time, around year 2008, when I kinda gave up from serious gvg and moved on completely to other games and tried my luck there.

It's kinda interesting to see that [KISS] never learned anything else besides zerging, before in AB, today in www

Hello Mikali,

Sorry for taking so long to process your application. We didn't really like the attitude that came across towards other Guilds etc, there was no need for this in an application. Since we felt this wouldn't be good on TS/ingame we decided to decline your application.

We wish you the best of luck in finding a suitable Guild.
Have fun in GW2!

Best regards,
Haldir
