Personal info:
Age: 28
Location: Ireland
Job / education: Working in a pub at the moment and studying Computing part time in college, the course is pretty wide ranging, some programming, web design and hardware / software support.
Hobbies: I play guitar competently and keyboard and percussion badly. I go through spurts of reading. Watch quite a few movies. Like watching football. Read comics. Draw sometimes. To be honest I do pretty much anything and everything at times but go months without doing some of them.
Do you own a microphone?: I do but honestly I gave up using it. People tend not to understand my accent unless they speak fluent mumbling. I type fast!!!
What are your system specifications?: AMD Phenom 2, 4x2GB Ram, AMD Radeon HD6900
Gaming information:
Describe your average gaming week to give us an idea about your playtimes, with approximate hours for each day, in GMT time zone.
I probably play for 3+ hours most days but my schedule is pretty random between college and work. If a project is due or exam is coming up I probably won’t be on for longer than an hour every other day. Work schedule changes from week to week and it can be at pretty much any time of the day or night.
Do you consider yourself as a casual, semi-hardcore or hardcore gamer? What is your ingame age for instance (type /age in game)?
Casual in attitude, but probably semi-hardcore to hardcore in play time.
230 hours on guardian which I’ve spent most time on. Ele is about 200 hours.
Which MMOG's have you played and how did you fare in them?
Played WoW for about 2 years. Played arena casually with a friend in 2’s but never did particularly well or took them particularly seriously, did them mostly for gear.
Played bg’s a lot and was good at them, had respectable stats and what not. Didn’t really get into raiding till pretty late WotLK, early Cata. Enjoyed seeing them but lost interest after the first time clearing them. Liked that place with the titan / norse god theme from WotLK (have a terrible memory but I’m sure someone remembers it). Liked the atmosphere of the place.
Played SWtOR for about a year. Cleared all the raid content but rarely went to them a second time. Spent most of my time in warzones with again respectable stats, tended to finish top of scoreboards for whatever I happened to be doing, not sure how relevant that is though.
Played AoC, Champions Online and a few others which I’ve probably forgotten for long enough to know I wasn’t particularly into them.
Describe your character in GW2 (name, race, profession, level, crafting, style (damage, support, control)).
Illindal – Sylvari – Ele – 80
D/D ele, pretty cookie cutter spec. I’m sure if there’s any in the guild they have more or less the exact same build give or take 10 points. Respectable damage but nothing special, mostly support really via buff spam, a few aoe cleanses and respectable healing. Have some cc but I’m not particularly careful with them – I tend to use one for a blast finisher as much as the knockdown and one as a set up for a couple of attacks. Lots of aoe snares though and I’m a bit more selective and careful about how they’re used.
Eredil – Sylvari – Guardian – 80
Pretty similar to the ele really in terms of what it provides while doing it in a very different way. In groups I tend to just grab a staff and sit in the middle / back row to throw around heals and might, while throwing out line of warding to stop people running away or slowing down or splitting up an enemy rush. I tend not to jump in to enemies as I find guardians pretty lacking in tools to back away from a fight but if the enemy rushes I’ll sit in front and try hold the line with a greatsword. Spec is pretty tanky and decent damage at times so I tend to breakup or wipe a lot of push’s, often leads to me dieing in a spectacular fashion too though
Have 3 other 80’s that I don’t really play in pvp much or at all for various reasons (an engineer, mesmer and thief and a 70 ranger - Im an altaholic).
Been playing the thief a fair bit recently actually called Kalledan, my style with that character is dying a lot, im a combination of out of practice and rubbish at playing it. I scout around and try check out swords on our keeps and towers when not dead. Haven’t really settled on a build.
All the builds are pretty self sufficient and I presume would need to be changed to better suit group play.
Describe what you enjoy doing the most in GW2 and why?
Mostly wvw, I’m in there most of my play time. Quite enjoy dungeons too, they’re a nice break from wvw at times. Enjoyed levelling but I’m pretty burnt out on that for obvious reasons : /
What previous experience do you have in a Guild environment?
I was In Dark Wolves on Lightbringer EU in WoW. They were a casual pve guild, it was pretty much me and one other guy who played pvp. Didn’t really suit me as far as playstyle goes but they were nice people with a good sense of humour and no drama so I stuck around. Got on well with most guild members and I wasn’t particularly ambitious as far as pvp went so I enjoyed my stay with them.
I was in Disavowed on Rogue Moon / Red Eclipse in SWtOR. We started as a pvp guild, as time went on and as we merged with other guilds it became more and more pve orientated and it went from being a guild that couldn’t get a raid going to a guild that currently as far as I know has little or no pvp participation.
I was promoted to Officer somewhat unwillingly. I didn’t particularly want the responsibility but after a lot of existing officers left and various other reasons someone had to pick up the slack. After a couple of guild mergers we ended up with about 10 officers and I happily gave it up and got to go back to being largely oblivious to any guild drama and responsibility which was nice
What do you expect of a Guild?
Just a group of good humoured people to talk nonsense with mostly. A place where you can get involved in the more organised aspects of the game (wvw in this case, or a more organised version of the wvw I’ve been playing).
How did you hear about Semper Dius?
Mostly recognise players from playing. I’m applying to you first because I like your members attitude from the little contact I’ve had with them and found your commanders some of the more enjoyable ones to follow around. Loantix seems to appreciate a good kamikaze rush which is always fun.
Are you currently in, or applying to, another GW2 guild?
No for both
How active do you use forums & TS3?
If the site is updated ill check it every few days. I’m listening in on the server TS most days but for various reasons (which are listed) I don’t use a mic.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Realise there’s a number of aspects of the application which are far from ideal (the mic, the playtime). So I won’t throw a hissy fit or take it too personally if you reject the application, it would be fair enough really.
