Gaming information:

Describe your average gaming week to give us an idea about your playtimes, with approximate hours for each day, in GMT time zone.

I consider myself quite the heavy gamer, whether on mondays to fridays, or on the weekends, i play a minimum of 3 hours or more. To be really exact, i on average play 3 - 5 hours on mondays to fridays, and over 6 hours on the weekends. Right now, i am really busy with preparing for my examinations, as this is my final year in high school.

Do you consider yourself as a casual, semi-hardcore or hardcore gamer? What is your ingame age for instance (type /age in game)?

I see myself as a hardocre gamer. I primarily play MMORPGs and RPGs, and it is my favorite genre, apart from that, I also have interests in FPS games and other genres. I have played World of Warcraft and EvE Online and Star Wars the old republic before, but stopped playing them a fews year back.
Right now I am allocating all my time in Guild Wars 2, played it since the beta weekends, my primary character currently has 575 hours and 49 minutes since the pre-launch of guild wars 2.
I spend most of my time commanding in WvW in Eternal Battlegrounds, and the other half in Dungeon PVE, i switched over from the US Server Blackgate from the guild Ruinous (RUIN) to play with my friend Darthdoggy (Nathan) here

Which MMOG's have you played and how did you fare in them?

I used to play World of Warcraft and EvE Online, spending around 2 years in World of warcraft and another in EvE online, and 9 months in Star wars the old republic. I reached maximum level in each of the games, but switched over to Guild Wars 2 because I knew it was going to be something special
First off, guild wars 2 had no subscription fee, which took the payment burden off my shoulders, unlike the other MMORPGs. And as the game developers of Anet have mentioned, Guild Wars 2 was a complete different experience in the MMORPG genre, dynamic events truely amazed me, WvW large scale Pvp really caught my eye, not to mention, the artwork and concept had a unique aethestic style, the game is unlike WoW, where it isnt gear based when it comes down to PVP, but rather skill based, such as traits and utility skills.

Describe your character in GW2 (name, race, profession, level, crafting, style (damage, support, control)).

I'm Syllvannes Eve, a level 80 norn ranger of Hoelbrak. I am well known for my cooking and leatherworking all across Tyria. Trouble may follow me, though i use my ferocity to overcome it, and my cunning to outsmart my enemy. I am a ranger with a balanced set of skills, i assist my group by dealing heavy damage upon the enemy, while at the time maintaining a balanced support role.
As a commander in the eternal battlegrounds, i have gathered much experience from my losses and mistakes, and i strive to improve and lead our people to victory. I do not go head-on with my enemy, but strike them where they least expect, before the enemy even has time to realize, they have already lost their keep.
I do not see myself, nor do i try to be an individual with immense authority over my army, but seek for their support and to take on my advice to lead everyone to victory, all done for the greater good of the entire server. Thus said, i have respect for all commanders, whether experienced or not, i believe not in dominance and control, but in cooperation with other fellow commanders to strategically stike down the enemy.

Describe what you enjoy doing the most in GW2 and why?

I enjoy WvW the most, as a commander in the eternal battlegrounds, i have the opportunity to lead a group of 30 or more players, sieging enemy keeps sabotaging supply camps, this is by far the most rewarding experience in guild wars 2 of being a commander. Apart from WvW, i do a lot of dungeons and PVEing, I have experience in all dungeons, whether explorable or story mode. The Dungeon Arah explorable was one of my greatest challenges in PVE, that is why many do not run that dungeon, that is why i seek to bring together groups of players and help them overcome that dungeon if it is their first time.

What previous experience do you have in a Guild environment?

My previous guild experience was when i was in the US Server Blackgate, a guild oriented in WvW, a large and active community of more than 400 members, communication ran through the guild chat, but mainly through team speak.
It was a fantastic experience, though unfortunely i switched to this server in order to play with my school friend Darthdoggy (nathan), despite that, I look forward to Semper Dius, a helpful and active community of gamers :3
In my time in Ruinous (RUIN), i was an officer of the guild, as we were a WvW oriented guild, we would allocate most of our time in WvW, doing jump puzzles that can be donated to commanders, improving guild to guild relations, forming guild alliances to work out better cooperation in WvW. The US Server Blackgate is currently in tier 2 WvW, next week they will be in tier 1, and the guild was forming up a massive, organized alliance with all the other guilds, this way we would stand a fighting chance against the other tier 1 WvW servers.

What do you expect of a Guild?

In a guild, I primarily expect respect (ryhmes :3), this is how every member in the community can get along with each other and cooperate. I seek a guild with a active and supportive community, and most important of all, to have enjoyable experience playing guild wars 2 with others.

How did you hear about Semper Dius?

From my school friend Nathan (IGN : Darthdoggy)

Are you currently in, or applying to, another GW2 guild?

I am no longer in my previous guild Ruinous from US Server Blackgate, i have spoken to the leaders and officers and departed from them. I am looking forward to joining Semper Dius, and help out this server as much as i can in WvW as I have done previously. :3

How active do you use forums & TS3?

I use TS3 whenever i am playing GW2, i dont see it as a obligation, but my instincts tell me to do so

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Sharing is caring... Would you like to take a bite on the other half of my chocolate cookie? :3

You should know, most of us don't even remember what EB looks like, borderlands all the way.

Have you already played on Gandara? If so, what are some obvious differences that you have noticed between this server and Blackgate, a very high tier server?

It's very nice to see that you have so much WvW experience. We do tend to play a lot in the borderlands tho (like Branwulf said). Arah is also something we barely do because it's pretty hard! The fact that you have experience in both EB and Arah could be very handy!

We are currently trying to become better at roaming (with a big group) because a lot of EU guilds tend to do that. It's an aggresive type of play but it is very effective. Do you like big clashes between guilds etc. or do you prefer a more relaxed siege attack with trebuchets?

Yea as what other people have said, be prepared. EB for Gandara is... not fun for commanders (As a commander myself I can tell you from 1st hand experience)

Also I heard the EU ladder is way more competitive than the USA, would you agree? (Curious tis all )

Is there any other reason that you are leaving Ruines and Blackgate? I assume there must be another reason than willing to play with 1 friend.

Like why do you decide to drop 2 tiers instead of going for the challenge of fighting in T1 for at least a week?

I'm just assuming here, I can be wrong

Ye I tried out some WvW last night, and i must say i have noticed several differences if i compare it to US Blackgate. From my perspective, i noticed that forming zergs (Large groups of players) is difficult, as the players do not seem to cooperate, perhaps a lack of motivation? :3
To your other question, I am not a commander that goes mindlessly head-on, blazing weapons, storming enemy gates. I do not call this strategy, as this is often ineffective and inefficient. I prefer to take up on a more subtle approach, which proves to be effective, as this is done in US Blackgate as well.

I have been playing on EU and US servers, and from what i can tell, both regional servers are very competitive in high ranking wvw.

I full understand that this may sound somewhat suspicious and fishy, but rest assured, i am a honest person, and i only left blackgate to meet up with my school friend. I consider myself a person, where at certain times i make irrational decisions, more emotional response than deductive reasoning.
I fully realize i dropped out just before Tier 1, and i regret it :3

Up till now, i am disappointed by this servers WvW, and i must admit that commanding here is tough with a bunch of hotheads that rage at commanders. As a commander in US Blackgate, my sole aim is to bring together a strong and descent WvW community, not through dominance or aggresion, such as "FOLLOW ME NOW!", I believe that through being open, and putting yourself at their level of equality is what gains respect and trust in a zerg.
I see lots of potential in this WvW community, but it is the lack of commitment and motivation.
As i have mentioned before, i will continue to uphold my sole aim as a commander, sticking to my values, and do this to benefit the entire server.
Though if this lack of disrespect and no disclipline continues, i might consider returning back to US Blackgate, i know this may sound very disapointing, but WvW is a major aspect of this game, and i wish to seek enjoyment, not disapointment.
Server transfer will be available next week thursday, till then I will continue to command in Eternal battelgrounds, but if this persists, and all i do does not change the WvW community, i will have to step out, thus meaning i will leave back to my old server. On the other hand, i will remain in this server permanently if it turns out well. :3

Its not disappointing, its reality. Commanding in EB on Gandara is close to impossible. If you have a name it goes better on the other borderlands but even then its still hard. We dont have many dedicated, hardcore players. Most are casual and hardly care, we are t4 and on our top for a reason.

I know it sounds bad and it isnt always the case but you are besrt of running with a guild.

I will post the link below.
Beforehand, you would probably be wondering why i chose those specific three utility skills, honestly, i do not have a specific reason, but i just prefer passive sigils that grant buffs, it is partially done to increase the dominance of my companion role.
I use a longbow as a primary, but in PVP i swap over to a shortbow. As a commander in WvW, i do not go after chasing enemies or try to kill specific enemies, that is why i usually use longbows in PVE and WvW for AOE damage.
The sword and dagger is primarily my secondary set, used in WvW, PvP, and PVE. Sometimes I use the warhorn and sword for PVE dungeons, and the greatsword for WvW.

Other than that, all my armor from top to bottom, including weapons, accessories, rings, amulets, and everything are all exotic, the back item being ascended. 3000+ attack, 60% crit chance, and 16,000+ Health. The sigil i use for weapons is mainly +10 precision per kill 25 stacks, when dual-wielding with a sword and dagger, the sword would have that sigil where the dagger would have the superior sigil of air, which deals lightning damage to enemies per hit 30% chance.
My armor set is equipped with Superior rune of the ranger, 6/6, the gems are mainly Power, Precision, and Conditional damage.

Anymore questions? :3

Btw, i will continue trying to command in Eternal BG WvW every day, and see if thing turn out well or not.

Hello Saratheos,

We've decided to accept you on a trial. We think this is better because you aren't 100% sure yet if you are staying in Gandara. Gives you the chance to make a decision and we can fully invite you after that.

So during your trial we'll just monitor your activeness in game, attendance during Guild events and behavior. For the rest your forum rights are just the same as those from full members.

You can use the "apply to guild" button in the upper right corner, right under the menu. You'll have to make a Shivtr account first, after that you can fill in our application form. As soon as that is reviewed and accepted by us you are a Semper Dius member.

Welcome!

Best regards,
Haldir

Hello again! :3
Well... i have to say that i am still continously disapointed by the WvW community, there is potential that this server can get to tier 3 or tier 2, but in time it will come, the community is just not at its height yet.
But on the brighter side of things, rather than speaking of all these negative things, i have definetely made an decision to whether staying here or not...
And it is a "YES!", while this may sound odd at first, because i left a tier 1 server and a well established guild... well truth is, i still prefer to play with friends i actually really know, just makes the experience in guild wars 2 a whole lot more exciting and enjoyable.
As for WvW, i will be continuouing to do my part, and try to be more optimistic Although that is what i tried to be all the time.... but anyways, i will move WvW off my list of most important things, and focus on the PVE and dungeon aspect more.
I hope this fills ur concern of my sudden change. And once again, i do plan on playing on Gandara permanently. :3
"Big things have small beginnings"

So yes, i shall now apply officially for the forum. And no worries, i do not have second thoughts of changing back to Blackgate.

Cheers mate, that's great to hear! Running with the guild is a lot more fun than trying to command randoms in EBG!

By the way, don't let this matchup fool you. Piken Square is out of our league and only dropped down because of holidays. That's why we have it very hard atm. and it makes it a bit less fun. But yeah, next week will be awesome again!

edit: Haldir, doubt he applied to a PvP guild to focus on dungeons/pve etc. xD I assume he will attend events like any other member.

Welcome to the guild!
